Scheibel Construction is proud to announce that we have been awarded the contract to build the new Gunston Fire Station for Fairfax County Government in Lorton, Virginia. The existing 7,742 SF, single-story building, two-bay fire station will be replaced with a new, state of the art facility. The new fire station is a 17, 500 SF two-story building with four apparatus bays, to be constructed just west of the current station. This new facility is designed to meet the operational needs of both current and future fire services, including accommodations for expanded staffing and individual bunk rooms. The project is targeting a minimum of LEED Gold certification and is designed to reduce energy usage by 50% compared to current ASHRAE standards. It will feature a fully electric infrastructure and incorporate sustainable systems such as photovoltaic (PV) solar panels and geothermal heating and cooling to support a Net Zero Energy design. During construction, the existing station will remain fully operational, ensuring no disruption to emergency services. Scheibel Construction is excited to be a partner with RRMM Architects and Fairfax County Government on this project.
